This legislation makes possible the future local economic development of energy projects that pose less risk to the environment than crude oil. The Moratorium provides the highest level of environmental protection for B.C.’s northern coastline –integral to the livelihoods and cultures of Indigenous and coastal communities located there – is protected and preserved.
